Abstract

The temperature and composition regions where mixed micelles of two ionic surfactants, sodium 4-(1-heptylnonyl)-benzenesulfonate (SHBS) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), form are reported. Quasielastic light scattering (QLS) results indicate that the mixed micelles are prolate or rodlike over the salinity and composition range explored and are larger than SDS micelles at equivalent surfactant concentrations in 0.3 and 0.6 M NaCl.
