N2 - Two instruments widely used in corrections, the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory and the California Psychological Inventory, were administered to convicted child molesters [1] at the time of incarceration and [2] upon release from prison. Analysis of differences in scores between pre-/post-incarceration administration of the MMPI revealed significant decreases on scales L, D, Hy, Pt and Si. Similar analysis revealed significant increases on CPI scales Do, Cs, Sy, Sp, Sa, So le, In, Em, V1 and V3. Results are discussed within the context of scientific knowledge about child molesters and treatment effectiveness.
