N2 - We interpret the uncertainty principle as a relation between the overall width and fine structure width of a wavefunction and its Fourier transform. We derive upper and lower bounds for the product of these quantities. These relations prove the uncertainty principle in a form which is sufficiently general to be applicable to the double slit experiment.
