Abstract
Candidate building blocks for producing new charge-transfer molecule-based magnetic materials are described. The importance of design criteria such as electrochemical suitability and tunability by organic and inorganic synthetic methods is discussed. A summary of two diagnostic tools available to the magnetochemist is presented. The utility of these techniques is illustrated using examples of several new magnetic charge-transfer salts derived from new donors or acceptors that have recently been synthesized.
