Abstract
Experiments of high enthalpy double-cone flows in nitrogen are investigated using computational fluid dynamics. CFD is used to expand the now in the nozzle from the reservoir conditions to the test-section. High fidelity simulations with recently developed models for vibrational relaxation including vibration-translation and vibration-vibration collisional processes are employed. The free-stream conditions are found to be insensitive to the vibrational relaxation model for these flows and these conditions.
