Abstract
We develop computational tools for the numerical simulation of three dimensional, unsteady flow about an articulating Micro Air Vehicle. An efficient, parallel scheme for high quality stuctured mesh generation that allows deforming grids to be created quickly during a time-accurate flow computation, is described. This technique, utilizing triparametric cubic hyper-patches, is coupled to a general, yet efficient message-passing flowfield solution approach. Matrix preconditioning techniques are explored as an effective means of accelerating solution of the stiff equation set resulting from low Reynolds number flows.
