Abstract

(1) The purpose of integrating occupational health and safety content in baccalaureate programs is not to prepare occupational health nurses at the undergraduate level, but rather to prepare nurses who have an understanding of the impact of work on the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health. (2) The content areas specific to the workplace most often included in undergraduate curricula and of most interest to baccalaureate faculty are health promotion and health education. (3) Audio-visual materials, course materials, and guest lectures (for students) on occupational health and safety are the media of most interest to baccalaureate nursing faculty.
