Outcome assessment for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography

Research output: Contribution to journalReview articlepeer-review

Abstract

The objective assessment of outcomes of such procedures as endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is increasingly needed. Such data help physicians improve their quality of care, enable patients to better select health care providers, and serve demanding health care providers. Variation in outcomes of ERCP is substantial among different practices. Standardized, objective, and case-mix-adjusted outcome measures allow valid assessment between these practices and patient populations.
