Abstract

Physical rehabilitation is an underused science that is usually associated with postoperative or postinjury care; its role in treating critically injured patients is often overlooked. Although each patient's status and stability must be addressed first, physical rehabilitation should begin as soon as it is feasible in order to achieve the best possible result.
