Abstract
The genus Physoneura gen. n. is described based for the adult male on two species originally described by Edwards (1931) as Spaniotoma (Smittia) nigroflava and Spaniotoma (Smittia) minuscula. The genus is characterized by having pubescent eyes; strongly reduced median antepronotal lobes; R1 subapically and R2+3 apically inflated, both separate from R4+5; R4+5 ending above or slightly proximal to end of Cu1, at about two-thirds wing length; and a keel on trochanters. Physoneura appears to be related to Corynoneura Winnertz and Thienemanniella Kieffer. The two included species are redescribed.
