Plastics: the materials revolution

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contribution

Abstract

Plastics, steel, paper and glass sales are compared and analyzed for the last 35 years. Plastics growth is attributed to cost performance advantages of low density, high strength, versatility in properties and low price inflation. The capital costs of plastics, steel and paper manufacturing are also reviewed and determined to be a competitive advantage for polymer resins.
