Abstract

Chronic pancreatitis is a painful and life-altering disease. Total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation is a treatment option that can remove the source of pain and inflammation (the pancreas) without leading to the complication of brittle diabetes. Postoperative management requires a careful attention to detail, including glucose management, prophylaxis against thrombosis, and monitoring for complications.
