Abstract
The use of postsecondary educational requirements in employment decisions is reviewed from a legal perspective. Specific attention is given to the use of bachelor's degrees, advanced degrees, and specific and general course work requirements in hiring, advancement, and professional licensure decisions. A review is provided of court cases and decisions of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in which the use of postsecondary educational requirements in employment decisions has been challenged.
