Abstract

We succeeded in preparing poly(ε-caprolactone) with hydroxyl chain end functionality by means of living ring-opening polymerization. The hydroxyl functionality at the chain end was successfully converted into anhydrous moiety via successive transformation reaction, i.e., carboxylation of hydroxyl group using maleic anhydride, introduction of conjugated diene under mitsunobu reaction, and Diels-Alder reaction of maleic anhydride and chain-end-diene group.
