Abstract
Omega lignins have been generated by depolymerization of isolated lignins accomplished by heating in alkaline aqueous solutions at elevated temperatures. Progress of depolymerization was monitored by observation of the absorbance of radiation at 280 nm as a function of time. Results are represented in terms of a first order process. Estimates have been made of molecular weight distributions.
