Primary autoimmune neutropenia uncovered by methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus osteomyelitis

Primary autoimmune neutropenia (AIN) is an uncommon and typically benign form of neutropenia. We describe a case of primary AIN uncovered by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus osteomyelitis. This is a more severe infection than would be expected with primary AIN, but as is typical of primary AIN, the course was uncomplicated. Primary AIN should be investigated in patients with infection and persistent neutropenia.
