Abstract

In order to develop the rapid production process of furfural and acetic acid with low pollution and low cost, based on the self-designed rice hull efficient refining microwave equipment and the biomass microwave pyrolysis technology made by our team, the furfural and acetic acid are produced from the rice hull by a two-step microwave pyrolysis method. In the first step, the lower microwave power is beneficial to improve the conversion rate of acetic acid. In the second step, increasing microwave power appropriately is helpful to produce more furfural with sufficient pyrolysis of rice hull. The content of furfural and acetic acid is determined by HPLC, which can provide a reference for further refining furfural and acetic acid. The results show that the two-step pyrolysis method not only avoids the low conversion rate of furfural in the lower microwave power, but also avoids the low conversion rate of acetic acid in the higher microwave power, which provides a new way of the conversion and utilization of rice hull.
