Abstract

Randomly staggered low repetition rate modulating pulse sequences for the random signal radar are discussed in this work. Such pulse sequences are used to alleviate close range uncorrelated clutter returns without introducing undesirable velocity ambiguities. Generalized ambiguity functions of these signals based on ensemble averages of possible transmitted signals are discussed. A signal-to-interference ratio for a radar using the above signaling scheme and operating in a uniform extended clutter is also derived, and some numerical examples are given.
