Abstract

The effect of reaction kinetics on morphology and stability of polydimethylsiloxane and polystyrene blends was investigated. Both polymers were synthesized by anionic polymerization where each chain was terminated with a single functional group. Morphology was examined as a function of the type of reaction (amine/epoxy) and of the homopolymer molecular weights. Morphology was evaluated using scanning and transmission electron microscopy while subsequent thermal annealing was used to estimate the amount of block copolymer necessary to stabilize the morphology.
