Abstract
The long-term behavior of end cracking in prestressed concrete highway bridges is discussed where 100 pretensioned I-girders observed to release crack patterns. Cracks are caused by some blunder during transfer or by restraints of thermal movements of the girder and/or formwork. The beams are not different from dozens of others that did not exhibit this cracking.
