Abstract

A detention pond model is developed based on the theory of continuous-flow stirred tank reactors in series (CSTRS). This model allows mixing between inflow plugs and previously stored fluid. A comparison between predicted and observed sedimentgraphs is given for a pilot scale sediment pond. The model does a good job of predicting the observed effluent sedimentgraphs.
