Abstract

Procedures are given to combine local measurements of interrill and/or rill erodibilities with those obtained as part of the Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP) using Bayesian estimation theory. Simplifications are proposed and evaluated to reduce the computational effort. Step-by-step example calculations are given for an independent soil to demonstrate how to use the procedures. These calculations also illustrate that the proposed technique can be used to obtain an estimate of erodibility with greater certainty than those obtained using the WEPP data set or the site measurements alone.
