Abstract

The applications of the theory and techniques of singular perturbations and time scales in guidance and control of aerospace systems were surveyed. Emphasis was placed on problem formulation and solution approaches that were useful in applying the theory for various types of problems arising in aerospace systems. A unique feature of this survey is that it assumes no prior knowledge in the subject and hence provides a brief introduction to the subject. Furthermore, the survey included related fields such as fluid dynamics, space structures, and space robotics.
