Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of introduction of a chisel plow (LV) on a notillage (SD) cultivated soil, in some soil physical properties and crops yield in the southeast of the Buenos Aires, Province. The bulk density (δa) at 3-8 cm depth was 1.31 Mg m-3 in SD and 1.23 Mg m-3 in LV. At 13-18 cm depth the δa values were similar in both treatments. The relative δa was 91% for SD and 84% for LV. The aggregate stability index were 71% and 66% for SD and LV respectively. Besides the maximum mechanical resistance in SD, the corn yield was 6568 kg ha-1 and 6977 kg ha-1 under SD and LV respectively. The wheat yield was 4196 kg ha-3 in SD and 4003 kg ha-1 in LV. The introduction of chisel plow in soil under no-tillage do not affect soil physical properties.
