Abstract

Uncertainty relations for position-momentum, time-energy, angle-angular momentum, are derived from the symmetry of a system under translations in space and time, and under spatial rotations. The relativistic extension of these relations is straightforward. The new measures of uncertainty which occur in these relations are directly observable.
