Spin fluctuations in superconducting La1-xSrxCuO4

Abstract

Recent neutron scattering studies of the single-layered high-temperature superconductor La2-xSrxCuO4 are reviewed. The emphasis will be placed on the important observation of an energy gap opening up in spin excitations below Tc (37.3 K for x = 0.15 crystal), which suggests the d-wave superconducting state. High-energy neutron scattering studies prove a persistence of antiferromagnetic spin correlations in the superconducting state.
