Abstract
The E Rouergue (S Massif Central) consists of metamorphic terranes. A persistent granite body (Pinet Massif) was emplaced between the paragneiss series and schist and porphyroid series and apophyses or related bodies intruded both the two series. While the intruded series have been involved in a complex deformational history (three phases of successive deformation) during the Variscan Orogeny, only one heterogeneous planolinear fabric was formed in the laccoliths. A detailed analysis of finite strain is described and interpreted. On the basis of the deduced metamorphic history and the geometry of the internal plastic flow a hypothesis to explain the significance of the state of deformation of these rocks in a crustal evolution model where finite strain consists both of compressive and diapiric components is proposed.-after English summary
