Abstract

Examining SCUs from an organizational cultural perspective requires an intraorganizational taxonomy of care settings, each with its own specific cultural framework for staff and resident behavior. Recognition of SCU cultural specifics allows for development of the best training curriculum for staff, means to maintain routine unit patterns, and a rationale for unit-specific distinctive features.
