Abstract
Bio-oil production from lignocellulosic biomass and high moisture content biomass via hydrothermal conversion (HTC) was studied widely. Lignocellulosic biomass is made of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. High-moisture content generally is composed with crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, non-fibrous carbohydrate or neutral detergent fiber. The yield and quality of bio-oil produced by biomass HTC were significantly affected by the biomass chemical compositions. The problems existed in biomass HTC and the effect of these chemical compositions on bio-oil production from biomass HTC was reviewed in this paper.
