Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to briefly review the principal morphologic and immunologic characteristics of the glomerular lesions found in patients with the nephrotic syndrome and to comment on the value of such studies in the management of this disorder. The recent advances in understanding the pathophysiology of the syndrome are also reviewed.
