Abstract
is article analyzes the literary and political meaning of the good shepherd’s prophecy in La Austríada of Juan Rufo (XXIV, 95). Also examines the evolution of eschatological images and concepts —from the legend of the last emperor, the prince of peace, and universal monarchy— in Christian millenarian literature and its appropriation by medieval and Renaissance Spanish political discourse.
