Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to show how the basic procedures and techniques presented by Bonham for calculating the time response of a four-bar mechanism can be extended to include the Watt's six-bar mechanism. The techniques are demonstrated by application to two examples. the first is of a four-bar linkage while the second is an application to a variable speed drive. A computer program written in Fortran IV language is presented in the belief that it can be of general utility to those who desire to do time response calculations, but are limited either in time or computer programming expertise.
