Abstract

In kidney tissue, the quantity of glutamate dehydrogenase limits metabolic flux of glutamate in accordance with predicted linear kinetic coupling of the dehydrogenase with transaminases (cf. 2). In liver tissue, however, control mechanisms of the glutamate system are not related in an obvious manner to the quantity of enzymes for which glutamate is a common substrate.
