Abstract

Casement window mechanisms have numerous design constraints that provide a challenge in synthesizing new linkage operators which will overcome the higher loading of today's larger energy efficient windows. This paper reports on a systematic type and dimensional synthesis of new casement window mechanisms. The type synthesis effort is aided by separation of mechanism structure and mechanism function. Four new improved operators are synthesized based on these procedures.
