Abstract

The structural influences of the supporting carboxylate ligand on biologically relevant Fe/O2 chemistry are emphasized by the unusual Raman and Mössbauer spectroscopic properties of the intermediate derived of the intermediate derived from 1 relative to those of known (peroxo)diferric species. These (peroxo)diferric intermediates were generated from paddledwheel complexes (L =py, MeIm = 1-methylimidazole, py = pyridine.
