Abstract

A team of faculty has transferred an engineering class presentation to a computer generated format using a projecting color monitor and providing the students with bound view graphs as a note-taking vehicle. The shift that brought the computer into the traditional classroom has also taken the classroom to the interactive TV classrooms. The format the team has introduced, makes it possible to cleanly introduce video clips and computer simulations into the classroom. The presentation system is augmented by interactive notebooks containing thumbnails of all the slides presented during the class and additional in-depth reference materials. The interactive notebooks are designed to significantly reduce in-class note-taking efforts.
