Abstract
Scheduled switching is a routine and a crucial issue in power systems today. The process of removing or maintaining equipment connected to the power system requires the interaction of personnel, computers and paperwork. This paper reviews Northern States Power Company's (NSP) request for outage process from the origination of a request to the post-performance analysis. It outlines the challenges to improving the process as well as recommendations in both personnel interaction and computer resources for a more efficient process.
