N2 - This paper summarizes a suite of methods that have recently been proposed for the control and synchronization of parallel single-And three-phase voltage source power electronics inverters. Inspired by the phenomenon of synchronization in networks of coupled oscillators, the premise of the proposed Virtual Oscillator Control (VOC) is to control an inverter such that it mimics the dynamics of a nonlinear oscillator. Consequently, the inverters synchronize their voltage outputs and share the load power in proportion to their power ratings without any communication. The VOC design philosophy and sufficient conditions for global asymptotic synchronization are outlined. Simulations validate the analytical results for a parallel system of three-phase inverters serving a constant-power load.
