Abstract
The only virus which consistently causes acute renal malfunction is the arbovirus of epidemic hemorrhagic fever. Chronic glomerulonephritis has been associated with virus (antigen) antibody complexes in animal models. The possibility that immune complexes involving viruses may be responsible for human glomerulonephritis is suggested by preliminary data on patients with chronic serum hepatitis (hepatitis B) infections.
