Abstract

This paper begins with a discussion of the mechanisms that may be responsible for delayed nucleation and proceeds to examine the limited literature on incipience superheat excursions. A comparison is then presented between the observed values, for both pool and flow boiling, and a proposed analytical approximation for the temperature excursion.
