Abstract
The following average values are reported for ombrogenous bog peats whose mineral supply is almost wholly atmospheric: pH (by direct insertion of glass electrode) 3.8; water 1170% dry wt., ash 3.2% dry wt., and N 1.3% dry wt. Hummock peats are lower than hollow peats in all these values. Bog peats are compared with other types of organic semi-aquatic and woodland soils.
