Abstract

In summary, Grohmann et al. have described a pathway of tolerance induction that focuses on the role of the APC rather than the T cell as the principle discriminator of function. Although it is likely that this pathway is only one of several alternative modes of tolerance, it has potentially great therapeutic implications for transplantation, autoimmunity and tumor immunology.
