Abstract

A 37,XO-chromosome complement was detected in a 2 1/2 -year-old sable Burmese cat examined because of primary anestrus. The cat was smaller than its littermates; other somatic abnormalities associated with the XO karyotype in other species were not present. The ovaries, which did not respond to gonadotropin stimulation, contained inactive germinal epithelium (lacking follicles and primordial germ cells), which was similar to that of adult human patients with XO-gonadal dysgenesis.
