Abstract

Using the entire C-band in the EDFA with a maximum spectral efficiency of 0.4 (bits/s) Hs, an attempt was made to transmit 1800 Gb/s over 7,000 km. Error free performance was measured on all 180 channels using a second concatenated Reed-Solomon FEC code with 23% overhead and 7.3 dB coding gain.
