Abstract

Finite element programs were executed on scalar machines and a vector processor to evaluate the differences in machines and the effect of writing the code to take the maximum advantage of vector processing. The vector processor ran the original models 17.7 times faster than the scalar machine, and the vectorized code ran 12.0 times faster than the scalar code.
