Abstract

Reviews cluster analytic approaches and problems with respect to their implications for research in counseling psychology. Related topics discussed include transformations of profile data and measures of profile similarity. A distinction is made between hierarchical and nonhierarchical clustering approaches. Commonly used cluster methods are described and evaluated based on criteria of availability, discriminability, replicability, and validity. (44 ref.)
