Abstract

This paper presents ongoing research in the development of three types of controlled drug delivery systems: non-erodible polymer systems which can release macromolecules such as peptides; bioerodible polymers which display surface erosion; magnetically and ultrasonically controlled polymer systems capable of providing increased release rates when desired due to the applications of an external magnetic or ultrasonic field.
