Abstract
Describes the effectiveness of a combined curricular-counseling intervention strategy for reducing mathematics anxiety among 69 adult women returning to college. Results suggest that maximum effectiveness in reducing measured mathematics anxiety (Mathematics Anxiety Rating Scale) was achieved when participants both enrolled in a mathematics course and attended a 7-wk multifaceted counseling support group. Implications for counseling intervention procedures for adult women returning to college also are discussed. (21 ref) (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved).
