Abstract

An experimental system demonstrating the feasibility of diffraction tomography has been constructed. A brief description of the reconstruction algorithm will be given followed by examples of images reconstructed with experimentally collected data. Preliminary results were obtained using gelatin objects in a water medium. Small simple shapes and locations of cavities within larger bodies showing correct sizes and orientations have been reproduced. Currently under investigation of system parameters, determination of perturbation magnitudes for objects of well known characteristics, and refinement of the reconstruction algorithm.
