Abstract
In order to improve the teaching of mass transfer, three changes are suggested: the need to spend more time on simple problems which use a single, simple definition of mass transfer coefficients; the need to use a different approach for describing analogies between mass, heat, and momentum transfer; and the need for a more coordinated approach for problems of diffusion and chemical reaction. Each of these suggested changes is discussed in detail.
